Welcome once again to What’s Happening at YourPlace!
As we move through winter, I am very happy to share with you some of the awesome things that YourPlace Housing has been doing during the past six months, as we ensure our services and housing options are constantly improving.
One of the most important things we can do is listen to what you have to say and involve you in our decisions. That is why we had our first tenant scrutineer meeting in May, where we invited tenants who had been relocated through our redevelopment program to tell us what they thought about that process and what we could improve.
We learned a lot from our tenants, and we will use these learnings in our future plans.
We also undertook a project with some of our tenants in supported accommodation to find out how they felt about their shared accommodation and what kind of housing options they wanted for the future. The results of this project will help us to create more suitable and accessible homes for our tenants who require daily support in their homes.
I thank all the tenants and their families who joined in these two initiatives, as well as those who filled out our tenant engagement survey last year. Your feedback is invaluable and helps us to improve how we meet your needs.
I am also excited to tell you that we have finished another three two-bedroom properties at Pasadena, with five more coming up in Valley View. These new properties will give more affordable and quality housing for our tenants, as well as make the local communities more lively and friendly. We have also received funding from the South Australian Housing Authority to build another six properties in Klemzig and O’Sullivan Beach.
With these new homes, we will have built 31 new properties by the end of 2025. This is a fantastic achievement, especially when construction continues to get more expensive across Adelaide. We are thankful for the help and cooperation of the South Australian Government, as well as our contractors and suppliers, who have made it possible for us to finish these projects on time and on budget.
