Margarine is the newest member of the YPH Pack, and is the trusted, loyal companion to David.
Margarine, who turned 3 on the 3rd of November – Happy Birthday Margarine! – is a Long-Haired Chihuahua and has been living with David for 12 months.
The gorgeous pooch started off life with her previous owner who is a Long-Haired Chihuahua breeder but after one litter decided she would not continue with breeding.
David’s previous two dogs were Long-Haired Chihuahuas, but it had been 4 years since he’d had a dog due to his living arrangements. When Margarine became available David snapped her up!
David says that they are the perfect type of dog for him.
Their size makes them easy to manage and cheaper to feed, which is a bonus with cost of living pressures. Margarine eats regular dog kibble, but her favourite food is cooked chicken thigh that she enjoys daily.
Margarine simply likes to be around David, she loves sitting on his lap and being in bed watching TV with him. She can tell when David is about to go out when she sees him grab his bag and keys. She runs up and down the hallway while David gets the car out and then settles on the mat near the back door ready for David to pick her up. David takes Margarine everywhere but her favourite outing is a walk to the local oval, and although she is not a fan of being on a lead, David has taught her to walk next to him which is very impressive! Being small, Margarine gets nervous around other dogs and will wait in the car, until the coast is clear, if there are other dogs at the oval.
Being small doesn’t stop Margarine from being protective. She spends her days lying on her mat with full view of the front door and close enough to the back door to chase away the ibis that likes to land in her backyard!
